YOU HAVE A PURPOSE

The world has experienced a shift. Would we question, as we do now, what is truly important to us if we were not forced to see how a country built on the idea of people helping one another is threatened by divisive rhetoric? It is time to reflect on what we give our attention to. Make a list of what is important to focus on. Don't just think about it. Get paper and pen or type it out on your computer. Keep it simple.

Give yourself 3 goals for the upcoming 365 days. Many of you have problems with keeping a roof over the head of your family, of feeding yourself as well as your loved ones. Please remember you are here for a purpose. You need to find out where you can get help. You need to accept that the road will not be easy, however if you want to change your life as well as the lives of others, you need to have a plan. That plan might change, however you have to start somewhere. If you are lost, please do not hesitate to write me and explain your circumstances so that I might be able to give a direction of how to get yourself going....

You must decide what you believe, what you want out of life, and what you can contribute to life. This is the beginning. This is your foundation. A definite purpose will be the starting point of your accomplishments. After you establish your worthwhile purpose, ask yourself if you possess the self-confidence to accomplish it. Most people do not. Why follow them when you know they do not exercise self-confidence especially when self-confidence is one of the most vital vehicles in accomplishing your purpose. Without self-confidence the greater part of your abilities are asleep.

Are you ready to wake up your abilities? Do you have a backbone or a wishbone? What is a person's backbone after all? It is that set of bones where the head sits on one end and the body sits on the other. It's up to you which end you use the most.....

You're amazing Will. I've been called "pretentious" all my life by people who don't actually understand what the word means. For some people "pretentious" is just a catch-all description for anyone who dares to wear their heart on their sleeve or fully commit to something they really believe in. The whole modern disease of hiding behind smirking irony is stifling truly creative minds, I'm convinced of it.

I think many times it is the fear of achieving our dreams and the fear of the known amount of happiness that deters us from setting our plans in motion. The idea that once we reach that peak, there is a possibility that our happiness will fade away and we will be left disappointed. And that fading of happiness is only our need for more materiality. That is what makes us believe they are unattainable. It is only when we believe that we need to be more, rather than to have more that our minds compel our bodies to move and drive every cell in our bodies to reach out, accomplishing the impossible. This new frame of mind is what will help us maintain a level of positivity because it feeds our souls instead of our pride.

Although I strongly believe that this could very well be a good answer, I have found it difficult to live by it. Slowly, I have been forcing myself to heed this advice in the midst of society that holds a different set of beliefs. And since I can not change an entire society, I can only hope to change my attitude toward life and diligently stick by it.

Now you are close to an absolute truth: nothing changes until you change.

Thank you so much for your post - this kind of sharing is what I hoped would happen with the blog.
